Unlock the mystery to writing as Mrs. Bowman shares key fundamentals of the writing process.  Students will investigate essential narrative & non-fiction strategies in a variety of literature, including A Key Keepers Mystery: The Game Begins, a wholesome and exciting book written by the instructor to make learning authentic and fun.  For more information, visit www.KeyKeepersMystery.com.

This workshop is designed to be an overview of narrative writing elements, initially focusing on plot, character, setting, descriptive language, transitions, openings & closings, dialogue, voice, and strategies to hold the reader’s attention.  Non-fiction topics and report-writing will be covered too.

Students who progress through the workshops will actually participate in writing further installments in the Key Keepers series, an imaginary adventure that will take readers all over the United States as the characters solve the mysteries of Uncle Jack's missing treasures.

Workshops will be grouped according to age or ability and are $200 per student for the fall semester ($40 per month), beginning the week of Aug. 11 & concluding the week of Dec. 15, for a total of 18 one-hour sessions.  There will be a week off for fall break in mid-October & another break the week of Thanksgiving.

Each workshop must have 12-15 motivated and interested participants.  Sessions will be held at the location of your home school coop (days & times to be determined together). Parents of participants must sign a financial commitment and behavior agreement.  If interested, contact Mrs. Bowman directly at liz.bowman58@yahoo.com. Be sure to mention the home school group with which you are affiliated and the age(s) of the participant(s). (Minimum requirements must be met.)  If time permits, Mrs. Bowman may be available for private tutoring sessions in study skills and other subjects.
